Course Description
This class consists of four units: Intro to biology, ecology,
cell biology, and evolution. Intro to Biology presents material that lays the basis of the entire class
such as lab safety, measurement, graphing, procedure writing, and characteristics of life. The ecology
unit introduces students to interactions organisms with other organisms as well as their environment. Cell
biology is the primary unit of the class and includes parts and functions of cells, transport, photosynthesis and cellular
respiration, and reproduction. Presented strictly as theory, the evolution unit introduces students to
suggestions on how life developed on Earth including primate evolution. Exploration and learning of these
units will take place through notes, discussion, labs, activities, and research.
